In 2015, the Foundation successfully raised enough money to purchase a Cuddle Cot for Victoria General Hospital.
The Cuddle Cot is a cooling mattress that slows a baby's body from deteriorating. When a baby is stillborn, bereaved parents are limited in the amount of time they get to spend with their baby. Time allows the family to form an important bond with their baby; whether changing a diaper, dressing the baby or simply just to stay close, this time can help families in dealing with their loss. In a warm hospital room, the baby’s physical condition can deteriorate quickly which parents often find distressing. Therefore, cooling the baby is absolutely essential. However, parents do not want the trauma of being separated from their baby whilst they are placed into a mortuary refrigerator to cool. The Cuddle Cot provides families with the opportunity to spend precious time with their baby they would not have had before.
